The 2016-17 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey Hobby Box delivers six Young Guns rookie cards and four UD Canvas cards per box, released February 15, 2017. This set captures the talent of a landmark rookie class including Mitch Marner, Patrik Laine, and Matthew Tkachuk.

Every box contains multiple paths to chase cards. Clear Cut PETG parallels of the complete Series 2 base set hit approximately one in three boxes. High-demand autograph inserts include 1,000 Point Club Autos, UD Signatures, and O-Pee-Chee Update Signatures. Rookie Breakouts on acetate stock are numbered to 100, while Rookie Materials and Patch parallels offer low-numbered pulls. UD Portraits Rookies hit four per box with rare Gold Foil and Platinum Blue parallels numbered to 25.
