2025-26 Topps Chrome Update Basketball Mega Box, the set with NBA Debut Patch Autographs

The buyer behind the record Cooper Flagg card is no longer a mystery. Daily fantasy company PrizePicks says it now owns Flagg's one-of-one 2025-26 Topps Chrome Update NBA Debut Patch Autograph (PSA 10), the card that sold for $8.04 million in September, and it has put the card into a new digital repack product, Sports Collectors Daily reported on October 21, 2026.

Key points

  • PrizePicks owns the $8.04 million Cooper Flagg Debut Patch Auto 1/1, plus the Dylan Harper (PSA 9) and Kon Knueppel (PSA 10) Debut Patch 1/1s.
  • PrizePicks did not win the auction. A spokesman told Sports Collectors Daily it bought the Flagg card from a third party after the sale.
  • All three cards are chase cards in PrizePicks Packs, a digital repack that launched October 21 with nine price tiers from $1 to $2,500.
  • PrizePicks has not said what it paid. It lists each card's estimated value at its auction price.

Who bought the Cooper Flagg $8 million card?

The card sold at Fanatics Collect's September Premier Auction, and the winning bidder was never named. PrizePicks revealed itself as the owner when it launched its new product, but the company declined to share more details, calling them proprietary. Sports Collectors Daily reports PrizePicks bought the Flagg card from a third party after the auction, so the original winning bidder still has not been publicly named.

The same auction also sold the Dylan Harper Debut Patch Auto for $2.88 million and the Kon Knueppel Debut Patch Auto for $2.34 million. The three cards brought in $13.26 million combined, and each sale set a record for that player. Flagg's $8.04 million is the highest price ever paid for a basketball card featuring one player. What is the Cooper Flagg card?

It is the one-of-one NBA Debut Patch Autograph from 2025-26 Topps Chrome Update. These cards use a patch from the jersey a player wore in his first NBA game, signed by the player. According to Heavy, it was pulled in a group break in August, where a collector bought the Mavericks spot for $515. The collector later sent it to auction instead of taking earlier private offers.

How do PrizePicks Packs work?

According to the PrizePicks announcement, buyers open packs digitally and get a real graded card that is stored in a vault. They can have the card shipped or sell it back to PrizePicks at what the company calls 100% of fair market value. Packs cover basketball, football and Pokémon. The four headline cards can come from any price tier in their category, and higher tiers improve the odds of hitting a high-value card. PrizePicks says the odds for each tier are shown before you buy.

The fourth headliner is a 1998 Japanese CoroCoro Comic Promo Illustrator Pikachu graded CGC 9, which PrizePicks values at about $2.8 million. That puts the four headliners at more than $16 million in stated value. PrizePicks says the product is open to adults 18+ in eligible areas in all 50 states and D.C., with age checks, identity verification and deposit limits in place.

Why does this matter to collectors?

The Flagg card changed hands privately and became a repack chase card less than a month after the September 25 auction. Collectors will want to read the posted odds closely, since one 1/1 sits among many packs across every price tier. Coverage from Collectibles On SI notes you can technically chase the Flagg card for $1, but nothing in any tier is guaranteed.
