2026-27 Topps Basketball Set Guide: Release Date, Checklist Notes and What to Chase

The Ballers Bank Updated Oct 18, 2026 3 min read

2026-27 Topps Basketball is the flagship NBA set for the new season and the first mainstream licensed product to carry official rookie cards of the 2026 draft class. This guide covers the release date, box formats, what is on the checklist, how the parallels are structured and how we would approach buying it. Details are from the manufacturer sell sheet as published by checklist sites and from release calendars as of October 18, 2026.

Release date

Thursday, November 5, 2026. Beckett's calendar and the published checklist both carry this date. Retailers note the usual caveat that manufacturer dates can move without notice.

Configuration

Format Packs x cards Cards per box Guaranteed hits Boxes per case
Hobby 20 x 12 240 1 autograph or relic 12
Jumbo 10 x 28 280 1 autograph and 1 relic 6
Value 6 x 12 72 None listed 40
Mega 12 x 15 180 None listed 20

Hobby is the standard breaker format. Jumbo is the format with both an autograph and a relic guaranteed and its own exclusive parallels. Value and Mega are the lower-priced formats sold through mass retail and carry format-exclusive parallels of their own. Pack odds had not been published as of this writing.

Checklist notes

The base set is 300 cards, with rookies at #256–300. There is also a 300-card Blackout version of the base set, plus smaller base-style sets: The Flagship Collection (90 cards), Flagship Collection Chrome (90), Project Rookie (10) and Break Point (10). The full product is listed at more than 3,200 cards across 67 sets, so this is a wide checklist rather than a tight one.

Rookies named on the checklist include AJ Dybantsa, Cameron Boozer, Darryn Peterson, Caleb Wilson, Keaton Wagler, Mikel Brown Jr., Darius Acuff Jr., Kingston Flemings, Brayden Burries, Nate Ament and Yaxel Lendeborg. Dybantsa, Boozer and Wilson are specifically called out as chase autograph subjects, alongside veterans Anthony Edwards, Victor Wembanyama and Jayson Tatum.

Insert lines include a 100-card 1981-82 Topps Chrome Basketball set, All Kings (24 cards with a Gold 1/1 parallel), Bounce, Class of 26, Comic Court, Drivers, From the Vault, Generation NOW, Hardwood Stars, Levitation, No Limit, Poster Factory, Quest for the Crown, Rookie Code, Stars of the NBA and The Daily Dribble. Base variations include Clear (/10), Golden Mirror Image I–III, Player Number and Team Color Border.

Autographs and relics

Autograph lines on the checklist: 1981-82 Topps Basketball Autographs, Rookie Autographs, Contemporary Marks, Flagship Real One (including a rookie version), Game Script, Level Up Signatures, New Applicants, Rookie Pathway Signatures, Rookie Photo Shoot (single and dual) and Signed. Relic lines: Flagship Real One, Franchise Fabrics, Impact Relics, Own the Game, Rise to the Occasion, Rookie Roundball Remnants and Woven Relics.

Parallel structure

Unnumbered parallels include Rainbow Foilboard, Aqua Rainbow, Storm and Holo Foil, plus format-specific unnumbered versions such as Victory (Hobby), Sandglitter (Jumbo) and Season Tip Off (Value). Numbered parallels run Gold /2026, Blue Sandglitter /500, Yellow /399, Purple /250, Blue /150, Green /99, Black /75, Gold /50, Wood and Orange /25, Black /10, Red /5 and three 1/1 versions (First Card, FoilFractor and Rose Gold Holo Foil). The sell sheet's count of Value-exclusive parallels does not match its own parallel table, so treat the retail-exclusive list as provisional.

Rip or hold

Flagship basketball is a volume product. Most of the value in any given box sits in the rookie base cards, the numbered rookie parallels and the rookie autographs, and all of those depend on how the 2026 class plays. Dybantsa is the name driving pre-sell demand; early hobby pricing we have seen is roughly $215–265 and jumbo around $410, which is higher than last season's Topps Basketball at the same point. That premium is a bet on the rookie class.

If you want the base rookie cards, Value and Mega boxes are the cheapest way to get them and carry their own exclusive parallels. If you want autographs, Jumbo is the only format that guarantees one. We would hold off on paying above pre-sell price for hobby in the first week; flagship products are printed in quantity and box prices have typically eased after the first wave in prior seasons, though a breakout rookie can change that.
