2025-26 Panini Select Basketball Set Guide: Release Date, Checklist Notes and What to Chase

The Ballers Bank Updated Oct 18, 2026 4 min read

2025-26 Panini Select Basketball is the tiered-base Panini product that covers the 2025 NBA draft class, and it is the largest basketball release in the second half of October 2026. This guide covers the release date, hobby configuration, the base tiers, who is on the rookie checklist, how the parallels work and how we would approach buying it. Details are drawn from the published checklist and release calendars as of October 18, 2026; Panini notes that card availability comes from the sell sheet and that some cards may be omitted from the box back.

Release date

Friday, October 23, 2026. Beckett's release calendar and the DraftKings Network calendar both carry this date. One checklist page shows an earlier October 14 date in its introduction and October 23 in its header; we are going with October 23 because it matches the other two sources, but the discrepancy is worth noting if you are timing a break.

Configuration

  • Hobby box: 12 packs, 5 cards per pack, 60 cards per box.
  • Hits: 3 autographs or memorabilia cards per hobby box.
  • Case: 12 hobby boxes.

Hobby is the only format listed on the calendars we use for the October 23 date. Select has historically also had retail blaster, mega and hanger configurations released later; none had a published date as of this writing. Pack odds had not been published either.

Base set and tiers

The base set is 400 cards in four 100-card tiers: Concourse (#1–100), Premier Level (#101–200), Courtside (#201–300) and Mezzanine Level (#301–400). Concourse is the common tier. Premier Level and Courtside are progressively shorter-printed and carry their own parallel sets, which is why a Courtside rookie base card is worth more than the same player's Concourse card. The addition of a fourth tier is the main structural change from prior Select Basketball years.

Rookies and key subjects

The checklist calls out VJ Edgecombe, Jeremiah Fears and Tre Johnson III as its featured rookies. Other 2025 draft-class names appearing across base and inserts include Carter Bryant, Hugo Gonzalez, Hansen Yang, Khaman Maluach and Derik Queen. Cooper Flagg's cards drive demand across all 2025-26 basketball products; confirm his placement on the final Select checklist before buying a case for him specifically. Veterans highlighted include Ja Morant, Cade Cunningham, Trae Young and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The product also includes a one-card 2025-26 All-Star Game Instant Access subset (Asa Newell) with Gold /10 and Galaxy 1/1 versions.

Inserts

About 15 insert sets of 15–25 cards each are listed: Color Wheel, Crown Jewels, En Fuego, Hot Stars, Introductions, Lodestars, Micro Mosaic, Neon Icon, Notoriety, Rookie Revolution, Select Buckets, Select Certified, Select Future, Solar Eclipse and Stained Glass. Memorabilia lines include Debut Memorabilia, Draft Selections Memorabilia, Jumbo Rookie Swatches, Select Memorabilia, Select Relics, Select Swatches, Select Threads and Sparks.

Autographs

Autograph lines include Immaculate (single, dual, triple and quad), Rookie Autographs, Rookie Signatures, Select Few Signatures, Auto Noir, Flawless Autographs, Notoriety Signatures and Select Pairings Signatures. The checklist does not give print runs or odds for the autograph sets, so we are not quoting them.

Parallel structure

Select's parallels are Prizms in various colors plus pattern variants (Cracked Ice, Flash, Mojo, Wave, Scope and Disco). Many are unnumbered. Numbered parallels run from /299 down to /5, with 1/1 versions such as Black Finite, Gold Vinyl and the FOTL-exclusive Black Snake Skin. Examples from the checklist: Light Blue and Red Flash Prizms /299, Gold Prizms /10 and Green Prizms /5. The same color families repeat across the insert sets, so a Gold /10 exists for most inserts as well as for base.

Rip or hold

Select Basketball is a three-hit product with a 400-card base set, so a hobby box will usually return a mix of Concourse base, a handful of Premier Level and Courtside cards, inserts and three hits. Value concentrates in Courtside rookies, numbered Prizms of the top rookies and rookie autographs. Early hobby box pricing has been near $300, consistent with the last two Select Basketball releases.

Because the 2025 draft class has already played a full season by this release, there is less uncertainty about which rookies the market wants than there is for a product released in a rookie's first month. That cuts both ways: prices for the top rookies are already established, so the upside from a box comes mostly from numbered parallels and autographs rather than base cards. If you are buying for a single player, singles are the more predictable route. If you are buying sealed to hold, hobby cases of Select Basketball have generally held value in prior years, but that depends on the class and we would not treat it as guaranteed.
